What will happen when Jesus returns?
Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
The dead in Christ will rise. He will then send His angels to gather His elect and they will met Him in the air.
Revelation 14:13-16 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. ~ Mark 13:26-27
Then begins the wrath of God.
Revelation 14:17-20 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. 200 miles and 5ft deep
Revelation 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Revelation 16:1-21 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
All those who took the mark of the beast will be stricken with noisome and grievous sores.
The sea will become as blood and all creatures in the sea will die.
All the rivers and fountains will become blood.
The sun will scorch with fire those left on earth.
The beast's kingdom and throne will be full of darkness.
The Euphrates will dry up and allow passage for an army to get to Megiddo in Israel.
The air will become poisonous.
There will be a great earthquake and Babylon, the great city, will be divided into three parts and the cities of the nations will fall. An earthquake so huge that the mountains and islands will be gone.
Babylon, the great city of merchandise, who was plagued with death, and mourning, and famine during the tribulation, will be burned with fire by the wrath of God.
100 pound hail will fall.
Revelation 19:14-21 The beast and false prophet will be thrown alive into the lake of fire. The rest of people, not raptured, will be slain.
Satan will be bound for a thousand years while God and His elect reign forever, and ever, in the new Jerusalem that shall descend from heaven and rest on the holy mountain. It will be 1500 sq miles and 216 feet high.
Revelation 21:1- The earth as we know it will be no more, nor will the sky and universe exist. Earth will be covered with fire and the sea will be gone.

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. ~ 2 Peter3:7
After 1,000 years Satan will be freed and those who were not raptured will rise from death. Satan will gather them to fight against God and His saints but God will rain fire down upon them. Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire and then God will judge the rest of those people to show them why they are also being thrown into the lake of fire. Death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire and longer exist.
A new heaven and earth will be made for only God, His angels, and His elect. We shall live in glory with our creator forevermore.
